Call for Artists: National Accordion Association Musical Conference Juried Art Show 

The Forney Arts Council (FAC) is now accepting entries for participation in the 2026 National Accordion Musical Conference Juried Art Show! Artists who submit an entry will receive 2 free tickets to the National Accordion Music Conference evening concert of their choice. Art Show Theme: This is a juried art show that invites artists to visually interpret music. It is a creative competition where participants produce visual artwork inspired by a musical piece, genre, or theme. This contest aims to bridge the sensory gap between sound and sight, encouraging artists to translate rhythm, emotion, and narrative into visual form.

Prize Amount: $500 

Art Show Event Hours: March 19, 2026 from 8am-9pm - March 21, 2026 from 8am-9pm

Artist Reception: Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 5pm-7pm

Art Show Location: TownePlace Suites by Marriott Forney (503 E US Hwy 80, Forney, TX 75126)

How to Apply: Visual artists in the Forney area and greater North Texas are eligible to participate. Please fill out the FAC Art Show Entry Application and submit by Friday, January 30, 2026. All applications will be reviewed and approved or denied the week of February 2, 2026. Space is limited and the visual arts committee reserves the right to choose the best artists suited for this art show. You will be notified via email of your application status. Accepted applicants will have 5 business days to reply back confirming their participation in the art show.  

Application Fee:

  • National Accordion Conference Members: FREE

  • FAC Members : FREE

  • Non-FAC Members: $40

# of Entries Accepted: Artists are welcome to submit 1-3 artworks. 

Mediums Accepted: All drawing and painting mediums, mixed media, photography art, digital art, illustrations, small scale sculptures. 

Judging Criteria:

  • Creativity and originality

  • Emotional resonance with the music

  • Technical execution

  • Interpretation of musical elements (tempo, mood, dynamics)

Art Dimensions / Framing: Canvas art should be no larger than 24 x 30 inches. Art sculptures must be less than 12 inches tall. Art must be framed or canvas painted on the edges; no staples may show (may be taped/painted). Art and frame must be in good condition. Art must be able to be strung with wire (sawtooth is acceptable) or otherwise be ready and suitable for hanging with the hanging system. Make the wire fairly taut and 1/4 to 1/3 from the top of the piece. Please twist or tape over raw wire ends to protect those hanging your art. FAC will handle the artwork labels. Please include a brief description of your artwork, artist statement and price for purchase (if applicable) in your application for the label.   

Art Quality: All artwork must be original. Art must be family-friendly. The committee may reject the display of some artwork for any reason and at its discretion. 

Sales: FAC will NOT be taking a commission on artwork sales and neither the location nor FAC will make sales or collect money. If the artist chooses to make art available for sale, they must include their contact information/website/link/QR code with clear instructions to handle their own sales. Generally, art is to remain until the end of the show, but if the buyer would like the art immediately, be prepared to replace the art with another work.

Art Delivery and Pickup: Artist or artist’s representative must deliver the artwork to the location at the designated date and time. On closing date, the artist or representative must pick up artwork or make arrangements no later than 72 hours in advance for FAC to take down on their behalf and store the work until the artist can pick it up. FAC takes no responsibility for the art. 

Artist Set Up Date: Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 7:00am - 9:00am 

Artist Tear Down Date: Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 7:00pm - 9:30pm

Neither FAC nor its members nor the locations where you hang your art are liable for any loss or damage to your art. Insurance on art is the responsibility of the artist.
